Death of the Prima Donna
Performance at Lokstallarna.
A mini-musical about the intrigues surrounding Malmö City Theatre and Ingmar Bergman's production of The Merry Widow in 1954. The Death of the Primadonna premiered in 2020 and has since toured theaters in Skåne.
Maria Stille, Pontus Stenkvist and Caroline Leander appear on stage. The plot mixes musical and documentary television features.
When Sigvard Pärsson plays Canasta with Bergman, he ends up in debt and gets the chance to stage his own operetta at the same time The Merry Widow is being performed at the City Theatre. Together with singer Alma Johansson and arranger Magdalena Richter, he completes the half-finished operetta The Death of the Primadonna.
