Description
Ranier practices figure skating. His mother dreams of him one day winning Olympic gold and pushes and encourages him into the world of figure skating. One day, after figure skating practice, Rainer meets Hans who is going in to practice hockey and suddenly everything changes. Rainer falls into a world of thick shin guards, wrapped sticks, soft hockey pucks and team play. He wants to start practicing Hockey! He wants to meet Hans.
Sudden Death is a story about being young and wanting to go your own way despite the pressures of the outside world. It is a story about the culture and world of the hockey world. But it is also a story about the adult world daring to listen to the children. What kind of dreams, opinions and prejudices live in the adults and what is so dangerous about encountering foreign worlds? This is a story about the soft and poetic that exists in hockey, while at the same time it is filled with masculinity and outdated values.
With inspiration from documentary work and films such as Billy Elliott, Fucking Åmål and the TV series Skam, where the real voices of young people have become decisive for the story, Sudden Death is about being young today. How it feels to be in love. How difficult it is to break away from norms and expectations.
