In 1932, in the United States, which was in the throes of a severe depression, the stockbroker Bernard London published the short and not particularly influential polemic Ending the Depression through Planned Obsolescence, and the concept of ‘planned obsolescence’ came to light… The plan? That imposing a ‘best before’ date on everything would force a boost in production and consumption and pull us out of the depression… Would you like to know how it turned out?
A ticket is required. The performance lasts 45 minutes.
