May Fall och Lampyris Noctiluca
An evening of two performances – May Fall and Lampyris Noctiluca.
An evening of two performances, May Fall and Lampyris Noctiluca, by the acclaimed Italian choreographer and dancer Aristide Rontini, in collaboration with Skånes Dansteater.
In May Fall, Aristide Rontini and Skånes Dansteater explore the visible and the hidden in the quest for love. The stage is awash with billowing fabrics. Bodies and objects appear and disappear in a mysterious, ethereal atmosphere that arouses desire – but also friction. Why do we try to resist, when perhaps, after all, it is all about letting our guard down, daring to fall and putting our hearts on the line?
Lampyris Noctiluca
After the interval, Rontini himself, accompanied by musician Vittorio Giampietro, performs the solo piece Lampyris Noctiluca, inspired by poet Pier Paolo Pasolini’s 1975 essay in which he lamented the rise of consumerism and the fact that fireflies (lampyris noctiluca) had been driven from the Italian countryside.
Drawing on Pasolini’s reflections on the disappearance of this vulnerable source of light, Rontini has created an intimate work that challenges the stereotypes his own disabled body often encounters. As Pasolini wrote: “They will teach you not to shine. And you will shine all the same.”
Lampyris Noctiluca contains nudity.
