Exhibition at Karlshamns Museum about Sweden's first female engineer.

Description

The exhibition about Vera Sandberg, Sweden's first female engineer, at Karlshamns Museum opens on October 5, during the Culture Night in Karlshamn.

Vera, a pioneer and engineer, was born in Ljungby in 1895, but grew up in Långasjönäs in Asarum. She went to school and worked at the Oil Factory in Karlshamn in batches until 1930.
Vera received her higher education at Chalmers Institute of Technology and Stockholm University. She graduated from Chalmers in 1917, four years before women got the right to vote in Sweden.

The exhibition lasts until February 28, 2025 and is an initiative of Bo Hedfors and Gunilla Resare. Bo is a Chalmerist and Gunilla is Vera's granddaughter, who has written a book about her grandmother.

Vera's life is presented in three different themes in the Expressenhallen at the museum:
- Schooling and studies
- Life at Långasjönä's paper mill
- Professional life and career

Opening hours:
Culture night 5 October 17:00-23:00
Other opening hours weekdays 13:00-16:00

The exhibition, created by Kristian Andersson and his colleagues at the Karlshamns Museum, depicts the success of a strong woman in a male-dominated world.
