American Roots Night

Three bands and a host of jamming bluegrass musicians will be performing at a mini-festival at Kontra on 14 November.

Ådala Stringband
A group of talented young musicians from Torsås who play legendary bluegrass. Rollin’ banjo, choppin’ mandolin, strummin’ guitar and stand-up bass. All the classic ingredients are there when Ådala Stringband get going. Expect wonderful energy and a fast pace.

Blues For Comfort
A blues trio from Karlshamn, comprising Anders Hjelm on guitar and vocals, Alf Nilsson on bass, and Peter Svensson on drums, form an experienced blues line-up focused on traditional blues – mainly from the American 1950s and 1960s – mixed with elements of jazz and rock. Blues For Comfort deliver a varied mix of blues classics from legendary artists such as Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson and B.B. King, interspersed with their own material; as an audience member, you can expect a really great groove combined with a nuanced and stylistically assured repertoire.

Peter Autio Trio & Friends
Peter Autio, Elias Hemberg and Erik Vestermark, together with guest musicians, dabble in country, blues, rock and bluegrass. Expect a fast pace and a great groove, featuring both their own material and brilliant covers. It’s set to be a cracking mix of the best that American roots music has to offer.
