Description
Samlarna is a tight psychological drama based on a true story about two brothers who close all doors to the outside world. They make the decision to never go out again as a reaction to the fact that the world is simply too hard to live in. A highly topical, beautiful and sad story, based on the Collyer brothers and their fate. For 38 years, the brothers Homer and Langley lived completely isolated from the outside world in their apartment. In 1947, the dead were found among 180 tons of rubble. In Lotta Lotas's hands, the isolation and mania of the eccentric brothers have been given the shape of universal human questions about loneliness, belonging, love and loss. The play is told in two acts: The first day in the house and the last.
Samlarna examine the human need to escape from an increasingly complex and dark reality. When we can't handle our world's constant flow of misery, it's easier to lock ourselves away or bury our heads in the sand. We escape in different ways. TV series, audio books, running marathons or self-medicating. When escape behavior increases, rationality suffers. It is a thriller about the desire to shut oneself in as a protection against the great uncertainty of the outside world. With its beautiful poetic language, this play has become more and more urgent with each passing year.
