Description
Florencia en el Amazonas is the Met's first opera in Spanish in nearly a century and its third ever. Mexican composer Daniel Catán's 1996 opera is inspired by the magical realism of Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez.
The show is about the opera diva Florencia Grimaldi, who returns to her native Brazil to perform at the legendary opera house in Manaus and search for her lost lover who disappeared without a trace in the jungle.
